The IBM* InfoColor* 70 Full Color Digital Printer produces offset-quality color documents at high speed. The printer’s digital, direct-to-paper capability makes it ideal for printing short runs and customized documents. The InfoColor 70 enables reliable, cost-effective, on-demand printing.
Ideal for On-Demand Printing
Based on proven IBM Risc System/6000* (RS/6000*) technology, the printer’s automated management software system controls output quality with reduced operator intervention. With the new RS/6000 233 MHz processor, RIP performance is 170% to 270% faster than before. You can combine this capability with faster networks and IBM’s 10/100 Base T Ethernet Card to obtain an even higher level of performance from your InfoColor 70.
Flexible Customized Documents
Digital printing technology drastically reduces document turnaround time by eliminating expensive film and plate making steps required in the offset press environment. This technology enables operators to produce short runs at low cost, while providing customized materials and allowing customers to print only the documents they need. A job parameter archive and retrieval system stores RIP settings so that you can easily access them later for subsequent job reprints.
In addition, you can quickly and easily merge any database, such as prospect mailing lists, with color graphics and images to produce personalized documents in a single pass. This allows customers to create targeted advertising, textbooks, brochures and other personalized print materials.
The InfoColor 70 variable data creation tools are the key to simplifying personalized document creation and production. IBM provides plug-ins for popular desktop publishing software to assist with the creation of customized documents.
InfoColor 70 and 64GB Electronic Collator
The IBM InfoColor 70 Printer and Collator (Model 02D) adds electronic collating and unlimited variable data capabilities to the base system. With 64 gigabytes of spool disk storage, 2,000 to 20,000 pages (depending on content) can be stored in a compressed bitmap format. This is twice the capacity of previous versions at the same purchase price. The InfoColor 70 with the electronic collator also permits the printing of customized data over 100% of each imaged page, duplex and in any color.
Advanced Technology and Automation
The IBM InfoColor 70 is an electrophotographic printer utilizing dry toner technology. The printer varies the electrostatic charge to produce consistent toner density in full color on a large variety of paper stocks. The printer achieves effective image resolution of 2,400 dots per inch using LED arrays with variable light levels per dot, per color and IBM screening technology. IBM’s patented dynamic toner saving feature reduces toner usage as much as 30% when printing four-color images.
Unique, IBM-developed SWOP or Euroscale lookup tables save time by enabling automatic color matching. The automated density control streamlines time-consuming operator adjustments that are key to high-quality, consistent color printing. The new automated registration system complements this feature to further improve ease of operation.
